Pro-ERA Forces Want Executive, Legislative Branches to Ignore Judiciary
Washington, D.C.: “Supporters of the Equal Rights Amendment will not allow any obstacle – legal, moral, or otherwise – to deter them from forcing their dangerous agenda on America,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Pro-ERA forces are essentially professionals by now at sidestepping the Constitution, the rules of Congress, and even the legal opinions of their own heroes like the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Aside from a few seemingly oblivious Don Quixote feminists, every credible legal source agrees that the ERA is long-expired.
“The DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel has declared ERA dead. The judiciary (an Obama-appointee, no less) has declared ERA dead. Even Congress has been unable to muster a two-thirds majority to agree on ERA since its original passage and ratification failure in the 1970s. But none of this matters to radical activists!”
ERA advocate group “Equal Means Equal” has declared, without any legal backing, that the Equal Rights Amendment is suddenly in effect as of January 27, 2022, and the Executive Branch “must” enforce it.
“It’s another wild and far-fetched ploy,” said Martin, “and thankfully vigilant defenders of the Constitution like NRLC’s Doug Johnson and our Eagle Leaders across the nation are swinging back against this feminist drivel. ERA backers are promoting a wild pack of deceptions in this press junket, but make no mistake! The Equal Rights Amendment’s 40-year streak of legal, legislative, and electoral losses is still going.”

Martin concluded, “The 1970s ERA is long gone — Phyllis Schlafly buried it in 1979 and again in 1982. We will not let outraged leftists to win by fabricating facts in the face of documented history. The ERA has lost its support and repeatedly missed its legislative and legal benchmarks. Don’t be fooled on January 27: ERA is just as dead as it is right now.”
