Celebrating the Life of Todd Akin, Reflecting On Phyllis Schlafly’s Thoughts
Washington, D.C.: On Sunday night, October 3, former U.S. Representative Todd Akin passed away after a long battle with cancer.
“Our founder, Phyllis Schlafly, played a monumental role in the conservative movement, interacting with public figures from the 1950s to the era of Donald Trump,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Through all of those meetings and experiences, she said that Todd Akin was ‘the most honorable man’ she knew in public life. Through my personal experiences with him, I must agree with Phyllis.
“I greatly admired and respected Todd. He entered public life because of his convictions, and he was fearless in defense of them. He stood up to the elites in government, media, and both political parties. Through it all, Todd Akin never yielded on his principles. He was always kind to me; truly, he was the most honorable man I knew in public life.
“We offer our prayers and sympathy to his wonderful wife Lulli and his family, but we rejoice that Todd is now walking with his Savior after a life of faithful service.”
