Washington, D.C.: “Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick of Texas is the kind of elected leader that we need right now in America,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “This week, the Texas legislature spent the final days of their regular session hotly debating key pieces of Senate legislation on social media censorship and the protection of girls’ sports, among other things. Yet, these bills all died on the House floor last night when Democrats succeeded in blocking the measures as the final minutes of session ticked away.
“Despite this momentary success for the left, Lt. Governor Patrick wasted no time in requesting that Governor Abbott call a special session in June to pass these priority bills. The Narrative Machine is trying its best to make them toxic, but Dan Patrick isn’t scared.”
Martin concluded, “America needs elected officials who have the determination to never stop fighting for what’s right. No matter what procedural or narrative victories the left may claim, we must press forward! Thank you to Lt. Gov. Patrick for being that example for our states’ leaders and legislators.”
