Washington, D.C.: “Big Tech giants like Facebook have long been operating without a check on their growing power, but that time is coming to an end,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “The Supreme Court has refused an appeal by Facebook to stop a $15 billion lawsuit against them, accusing them of violating federal wiretapping laws.
“This refusal to intervene by the Supreme Court should be the beginning of an era of accountability for these Big Tech giants. They have lived above the law — picking and choosing who deserves free speech and crafting hidden ways to track their users and sell the data. This kind of legal action against them in tandem with anti-trust action is exactly what is needed to rein in these Big Tech behemoths.”
