Judiciary Committee Should Oppose USPTO Nominee Kathi Vidal
Washington, D.C.: The Senate Judiciary Committee is set to vote this week on Biden’s nominee to lead the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, big tech lawyer Kathi Vidal.
“Kathi Vidal is a terrible choice to lead the USPTO,” Phyllis Schlafly Eagles President Ed Martin said. “Vidal represents more huge tech corporations than you can count on two hands and will bring that saturation of influence with her. She is a staunch advocate of the dreaded PTAB (Patent Trial and Appeal Board) that has been used since 2011 to devastate small businesses and inventors on behalf of big corporations that steal intellectual property. It’s no wonder my mentor Phyllis Schlafly saw this board for the con it is back when it was first considered by Congress.
“Her antagonism to intellectual property rights and her vast ties to IP thieves in Big Tech render her unfit to lead the USPTO. This entity was designed to protect and provide ‘Authors and Inventors… exclusive right to their respective Writings and Discoveries’ as prescribed by the Constitution. Kathi Vidal would craft a legacy exactly opposite of what the Constitution demands. The Senate Judiciary members ought to consider her record and reject her as Director of the Patent and Trademark Office.”
U.S. Inventor has put forward an open letter, allowing citizens and intellectual property leaders to voice their concerns to the Senate Judiciary Committee about Kathi Vidal’s nomination.
