“‹Trump to Promote Pro-America Message and Fair Trade Practices at World Economic Forum
Trump is second sitting President to visit gathering of global elite; visit promises to be very different than Bill Clinton’s in 2000.
St. Louis, MO: President Donald Trump landed earlier today in Davos, Switzerland, where he attended meetings and will speak tomorrow at the 45th Annual World Economic Forum. This forum serves as a gathering for the world’s mega-rich CEOs, influencers, and companies – much of the group that Trump campaigned against in 2016.
“This trip is a huge action item toward accomplishing the pro-America policies that are long-awaited and needed,” said Ed Martin, President of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “President Trump received a mandate from working class Americans that economic and trade policies need to change. Taxes and regulatory climate have driven companies away from investing in the United States and foreign trade deals have left us open to being taken advantage of by countries who don’t play by the rules.
“The President has taken great strides in his first year toward breaking up and changing these trade deals and tax and regulatory policies, and now he is headed to the heart of economic globalism to communicate that message to business elites from across the world. America is ‘open for business’ but won’t be crippling ourselves or be taken advantage of any longer.”
Martin concluded: “Economic adviser Gary Cohen is absolutely right: this movement has always been about America first, but that does not mean America only. We are pleased the President is following through on his campaign promises to correct these failing policies and deals, and we applaud his work to communicate this new American economy to leaders abroad.”
