Following the disappointing passage in the Senate, the IL House has planned an ERA Committee Hearing on Monday, May 7, in Chicago.
St. Louis, MO: Illinois Democrats and some liberal Republicans, are bent on ramming through the long-expired Equal Rights Amendment. The House Human Services Committee has scheduled a committee hearing for Monday, May 7, at 10:00 am in the Michael A. Bilandic State Building in Chicago.
"Liberals can't seem to help themselves from appeasing the long-dead dreams of radical feminists," said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. "The Equal Rights Amendment expired in 1981 and Phyllis Schlafly personally saw to it. Liberals have tried to resurrect this issue many times, but the reality is they were never able to obtain the states needed for ratification. They even lost the support of five states that rescinded their ratifications upon realizing how badly this amendment would hurt American women.
"The liberal city of Chicago has long been known for plaguing the heartland with liberal policy in an otherwise rural, traditional state. This time, they're putting the entire country at risk by even allowing ERA to come up for a vote. Phyllis Schlafly and American women across the country showed us already that the ERA would harm or remove most of the rights and legal privileges that women already enjoy.
"We cannot take steps backward on women's rights. We must Stop ERA again."
