"If A Heartbeat is Detected, the Baby is Protected" – Testimony to be Heard on Rep. King and Janet Porter's Bill
Washington, D.C.: Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund has been one of the leaders at the forefront of supporting the federal Heartbeat Bill (H.R. 490), sponsored by Rep. Steve King. We have worked alongside Faith2Action and the Children First Foundation in gaining Congressional support for the Heartbeat Bill. As of this writing H.R. 490 had 170 co-sponsors. Pro-life leaders in Congress understand this important bill! "If a heart beat is detected, the baby is protected."
"This piece of legislation could be one of the most important pro-life victories in the last 30 years," said Ed Martin, president of the Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund. "We are proud to have supported Janet Porter's excellent work through Faith2Action. Defending unborn life was a top priority for Phyllis Schlafly, and she would be pleased with the fine work supporters have put into the Heartbeat Bill. We are happy to see this bill is being taken up for a hearing."
Andy Schlafly of New Jersey will join Janet Porter and Rachelle Heidlebaugh of Faith2Action in submitting written testimony at this hearing.
Supporters of the bill who can attend the hearing or be at capitol hill offices today are encouraged to wear red.
Ed Martin will speak at a press conference at 1:00 p.m. following the hearing on Wednesday, November 1 at Capitol Triangle. Details to come.
