Leftists Are Forcing a Supreme Court Confirmation Showdown
Washington, D.C.: The so-called Better Elections PAC in Missouri has filed a lawsuit against Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, demanding he implement their preferred ballot initiative procedures rather than defend the election processes of Missouri.
“First of all, ranked choice voting is a horrible electoral system,” said Phyllis Schlafly Eagles President Ed Martin. “This ‘instant runoff’ system is a bad deal for voters, taking away their right to make an informed choice and leading us down the road to victory by ‘plurality’ instead of majority. The demand for majority victory is a staple in our Democratic Republic, and we must defend it.
“Second, and most pressing today, is that ‘lawfare’ is on the move in Missouri! A so-called bi-partisan group of career politicians and perennial political operatives funded by dark money from out of state are suing Secretary of State Ashcroft to browbeat him into their preferred process for ballot initiatives. Jay Ashcroft was an outstanding public servant for the people of Missouri throughout one of the most difficult election years in our lifetime. When concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic swarmed an election year, Secretary Ashcroft responded swiftly, effectively, and without sacrificing an ounce of integrity to the Missouri election system.”
Martin concluded, “Missourians should demand answers — names and paper trails — from ‘Better Elections PAC.’ Who’s funding this push to corrupt Missouri elections? Why do they want to deprive voters of a genuinely informed choice in their elections? We must root out corruption that would undermine voters and harm the integrity of our voting systems. Political platitudes are no substitute for transparency!”
