Dear Chairman and Distinguished Members of this Committee,
I strongly urge you to vote “YES” on HB 1200. Few Missourians have done more to change the landscape of American media than the late Rush
Limbaugh, a native of Cape Girardeau. His passion and his accomplishments are a credit to his state, but he did not develop this passion for activism by chance. His mother, Millie Limbaugh, was as rock-solid as they come. Millie was a dear friend of our founder Phyllis Schlafly, another Missourian who had a passion for grassroots engagement in politics.
Missouri should be proud to honor a true radio pioneer like Rush. He was not just another radio host. He developed a new age of talk radio whose mark can still be felt today in countless other voices. He delivered independent news and commentary long before the idea of “fake news” was popularized by President Donald Trump.
Future generations of Missourians should strive to be more like Rush Limbaugh. They should want to innovate, improve, and express their patriotism with pride. They should never back down from feats which have never been accomplished before. They should never be pressured into silence by political elites. Rush Limbaugh set a bold example for others to follow. The people of his home state would do well to honor his memory.
Please vote “YES” on HB 1200.
All the best.
Ed Martin

Dear Chairman and Distinguished Members of this Committee,
I strongly urge you to vote “YES” on HB 1200. Though I am not a Missourian, I am one of millions of patriots throughout America who have been touched by the legacy your native son Rush Limbaugh left behind. His voice of reason will be sorely missed by many.
Although Mr. Limbaugh was a man of striking boldness and conviction, those are not his defining characteristics. What truly sets him apart is his ability to resonate with the boldness and conviction of others. At a time when Americans were given the choice of three mainstream news networks, Rush Limbaugh stepped in to offer an alternative voice. He spoke his mind. He never shied away from the truth. He gave a voice to the voiceless.
Multiple generations of grassroots activists were trained by Rush Limbaugh’s voice on the airwaves. His enduring legacy is a challenge for Americans not only to make their voices heard, but to lift up the voices of others. Citizen participation in the political process is the privilege and duty our Founding Fathers left to us. The great John Adams wrote this in a letter dated April 26, 1777: “Posterity! You will never know, how much it cost the present Generation, to preserve your Freedom! I hope you will make good Use of it.”
The late Rush Limbaugh is a man who made good use of the freedom preserved since the time of our nation’s founding. I strongly support this bill which seeks to recognize him with a special day to mark his accomplishments. It is my hope that this day will serve to call others to rise to the legacy Rush Limbaugh left for us all.
I urge you to vote “YES” on HB 1200.
Sincerely,
Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, USA (Ret.)
