Washington, D.C.: On Thursday, October 18, Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund will host a briefing titled “Benefiting from Federal Research Funding, Technology Transfer, the Bayh-Dole Act, Patent Rights, and Society.” Experts will discuss the role of patents and intellectual property in turning basic research into new medicines, new advanced materials, new energy and agriculture, new manufacturing and resource extraction technologies, advanced computing, and more.
Panelists include Joe Allen, Former Senate Judiciary Aide to Senator Birch Bayh; Stephen Ezell, Information Technology & Innovation Foundation; Hans Sauer, Biotechnology Innovation Organization; and Steve Susalka; Association of University Technology Managers. The panel will be moderated by Jim Edwards, Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund Policy Advisor.

The panel discussion will be held in 121 Cannon House Office Building from 12 noon – 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 18. Lunch will be served and all attendees will receive a copy of Phyllis Schlafly Speaks Volume 4: Patents & Invention.
