Washington, D.C.: As university presidents and sports association heads waffle this week on moving forward with the college football season, President Trump waded into the discussion to support student-athletes who want to play.
“Leftists and communists are trying to close down America with endless shutdowns and mandates,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “From day one, they have used this COVID-19 pandemic to push for their own power and control. Now they’re pushing hard to get university presidents and athletic association heads to cancel college football. We cannot let this happen! America needs to play ball this fall. President Trump is right to back football. We have to support him and incredible student athletes around the country who want to play.”
