Washington, D.C.: “The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has intervened on behalf of Catherine Engelbrecht and Gregg Phillips and today they are free,” said Phyllis Schlafly Eagles president Ed Martin. “This is a big win in their continuing fight, and we are grateful for their immediate release despite District Judge Hoyt’s refusal to do it himself.
“Catherine and Gregg are at the frontlines of the fevered battle for transparency in government and elections. Judges can’t cart people off to jail because they aren’t happy about honest answers that are perfectly legal. We desperately need True the Vote along with Catherine and Gregg to be firing on all cylinders this week as Midterm Election shenanigans will no doubt be in place across the nation.
“Good for the Fifth Circuit! American voters across the country are grateful that some of our top watchdogs aren’t sitting out the fight this week, wrongly relegated to a jail cell for protecting a confidential source from reprisal.”
