If Congressman Peter W. Rodino, Jr., goes ahead with his announced plan to investigate the ring of homosexuals who run the multi-million dollar child pornography and prostitution rackets, he will render a service to our country far more important than his chairing of the committee that impeached Richard Nixon.
After all, Watergate involved only a few dozen people whose crimes wrecked only their own lives. Estimates of the children, mostly boys, whose lives are wrecked by the child pornography racket run to 100,000.
The recent exposes of the child sex racket prove that it operates on a national and international scale, involving thousands of adult perverts. They maintain communication with each other by means of “boy love” or BL newsletters and magazines sold through the mails or “adult” bookstores.
Child pornography publications show children from age 3 to 15 engaging in every kind of sexual perversion. The publications advise child molesters how to pick up young boys from school playgrounds, bus stations, and hamburger stands. They describe the sexual gratification that comes from using, abusing, and beating the children.
The young boys called “chickens” are provided to adult male customers called “chicken hawks” on an individual basis or trained for street-walking in the large cities, especially Chicago or Los Angeles. One racket is called the Guyon Society, an organization addicted to sexual freedom under the motto “Sex by the age of eight or else it’s too late.”
The financial costs and legal risks of exploiting children are minimal, and the profits are enormous. The purveyors include millionaires, professional men, and the well educated.
The depressing case histories of child corruptors would turn your stomach, but they are a good antidote to some favorite liberal myths.
First, the evidence proves even to the Justice William O. Douglas-type of First Amendment absolutists that there should be some limits to freedom of speech and press. Hardly anyone except the porno profiteers themselves is now arguing that this sickness should be protected by the First Amendment.
Second, the evidence puts the lie to the myth (started by the Chairman of Lyndon Johnson’s Commission on Obscenity and Pornography) that, if we just let obscene pictures serve as a social outlet to satisfy porn buyers, they will then not engage in sex crimes. It is apparent that those who enjoy pornographic pictures and films of child sex move rapidly from looking to doing.
Third, the evidence shows that pornography is an addiction that gets a grip on some people, just like alcohol, drugs, tobacco, or gambling. The porn addict craves porn that is ever more perverted, more sadistic, with crueler and crueler mistreatment of younger and younger victims.
Fourth, the evidence shows that it is not true that homosexuals do not covet young boys. The current controversy about the gay rights ordinance in Miami involved principally the alleged right of homosexuals to teach in public and private schools and to flaunt their deviation openly. Anita Bryant calls her organization Save Our Children, because the exposure of children to homosexual role-models and chicken-hawks is the key issue.
With this type of moral sickness rampant in our country, it is hard to understand why President Carter recently invited the publisher of the largest homosexual magazine to the White House for lunch. It is hard to understand why the President appointed the co-executive director of the National Gay Task Force to the Commission on International Women’s Year.
