States Must Bypass Biden Admin, Protect Citizens From China
Washington, D.C.: “Two things are clear at this point: that the Chinese Communist Party is pushing digital surveillance and propaganda on America and the Biden Administration is doing nothing to stop it,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “It’s time for every state public official to step up on behalf of their citizens, even when our federal government will not.
“South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is has seized this leadership opportunity, signing an executive order to ban the Chinese regime-owned TikTok from all government phones and computers. While many Americans are ignorant to what’s happening, we know very well that China uses TikTok and similar apps to gather not only personal and financial information on its American users, but even to craft particular messages and algorithms to shape the opinion of users.”
Martin continued, “In our world of digital security concerns, Noem’s actions ought to be just beginning actions we must take. Thanks to her leadership, four other states so far have moved to similar action. Strong state leaders like Governor Noem are needed now to step into the gap and stand up for American sovereignty.”
