Major reforms would signal another Trump campaign promise fulfilled.
St. Louis, MO: Both the House and Senate are expected to vote today on tax reform legislation, a major campaign promise from the Trump administration. Contrary to what the fake news media is reporting, this bill does contain many cuts that will relieve taxes on middle class, working families, and especially on the businesses that employ them.
"Many conservatives are saying this bill doesn't go far enough, but it's a great step forward and a win for the American people," said Ed Martin, President of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. "President Trump promised us last month in St. Charles that 'our focus is on helping the folks who work in the mail rooms and the machine shops of America; the plumbers, the carpenters, the cops, the teachers, the truck drivers,' and that these 'tax cuts will be rocket fuel' for jobs and the economy. We agree and so does the economy. We urge Congress to pass many of these meaningful reforms and let American businesses and American citizens keep more of their own money!"
"This package is a wonderful starting place," said Ryan Hite, Communications Director. "The new child tax credits and standard deductions alone will boost the working American family, and we hope to see even more and better tax reforms added later. Our giant and complex tax code is truly a monster worthy of the swamp that created it. We hope to see it flushed away as the swamp continues to drain. American prosperity directly follows how much of their own money people and businesses are allowed to keep, spend, save, and reinvest at their own discretion. The oppressive U.S. tax code is due for a good cutting back, and we applaud President Trump and the U.S. Congress for pursuing these great steps."
