Washington, D.C.: Friday, President Donald Trump renewed his threat to close the southern border this week if Mexico continues to grant a massive stream of illegal immigrants passage through to the U.S. border.
“President Trump is absolutely right to close the border, and I’m surprised he hasn’t already,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Our southern border is under assault by never before seen numbers of illegal aliens. Migrants are crossing in record numbers and our border protection system is near collapse.
“President Trump should close the border immediately. Congress must recognize and act on the crisis that is brewing. Mexico must also step up and stop allowing the passage of these massive migrant caravans. They aren’t truly lifting a finger when they could do so much to ease this humanitarian crisis. Close the border now, Mr. President.”
