Democrat civil war spills over to guns, immigration this week as 26 House Dems break with party to vote for gun safety amendment.
Washington, D.C.: Representative Ben Cline (R VA-06) has managed to stir up bad blood between Democrats this week. His new measure, H.R. 1397, was voted on as an amendment (he plans to file it as a stand-alone bill) to the gun control package that recently swept through the House. This measure would require the FBI to notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement if an national instant criminal background check system applicant is denied a firearm transfer because of illegal presence in the U.S.
“Twenty-six Democrats broke with their party and voted for an NRA-backed (actual) gun safety measure,” said Phyllis Schlafly Eagles president Ed Martin, “and Democratic leadership is furious. This split confirms two things that many of us know about Democrats, but now they are out in the open. First, Democrats aren’t really looking for safety measures to make gun crime go down — they only want to eradicate our fundamental 2nd Amendment right. Second, Democrats apparently will sacrifice anything at the altar of protecting their prospective illegal immigrant voters.”
The American people ought to know about the two-faced Democratic leadership’s agenda — they are not looking to work for and defend American citizens.
