There’s a reason why conservatives would rather have American sovereignty than submission to an international bureaucracy. The history books you read about in public schools might paint the United Nations as the great solution to the world’s problems, but you don’t have to look deep in the historical record to find a very different story. In reality, the United Nations has failed at all of its stated goals. Their only successes in seventy-six years of existence has been propagandizing a radical leftwing agenda to every American business, family, and citizen.
If you think I’m exaggerating, let’s cut right to the chase. What was the primary reason the UN was founded in the first place? Most history books will tell you the whole point was to end armed conflict between nations. They were formed in the wake of World War II, after all. Obviously, they haven’t done so well with this goal. Sadly, war is still very much a part of the world we live in. However, they haven’t just failed to stop all wars. They haven’t stopped any at all. I challenge anyone to name a war stopped by UN intervention. It simply hasn’t happened. In this respect, the United Nations has been a total failure.
Another common reason UN supporters give for their existence is to prevent human rights abuses throughout the world. Yet, of all nations in the world to occupy a coveted seat on the UN’s Human Rights Council, China was just voted in. Remember, this is the same China monitoring all of its citizens constantly and oppressing them with communist diktats. Worse yet, China is housing one million of its own citizens in literal concentration camps in their Xinjiang Uyghur region. If that’s what the UN’s human rights looks like, I think I’ll pass.
National sovereignty is a far better policy than the internationalism of the United Nations. The choice is simple. Do Americans want their human rights to be handed down from China or from the Bill of Rights? Don’t be fooled by phony language about world peace. The United Nations can’t give us peace and it certainly can’t protect our rights. Only the Constitution backed by military superiority can truly protect the American people.
