Washington, D.C.: With Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s resignation yesterday comes an opportunity for the Trump administration to move forward quickly on sealing the southern border and ending the terrible catch and release policy that has only slowly increased in the last 18 months.
“With Secretary Nielsen out and President Trump looking for a new DHS leader, now is the time to move us forward quickly and efficiently on changes to our immigration system,” said Phyllis Schlafly Eagles President Ed Martin. “We must stop the increasing catch and release program once and for all and we must work now to finish the wall and seal our southern border.
“President Trump has many surrounding him that are ready and willing to accomplish this goal and we encourage him to carefully select his next head of Homeland Security to ensure that individual is on the same page as his tough immigration policies. Violent gangs are running the show at our southern border. It’s time to give our Customs and Border Protection real teeth to deal with the problem. They need a new leader who will meet that challenge!”
