I’ve read it, but I’m looking forward to hearing from John today. I am excited for these two interviews. I hope that. You are as well.
But before we get there, let’s remember what comes first the WYNK. What you need to know this first segment, this first all important segment where we talk about something absolutely important that you need to know about something big, something huge, something massive that is going on here in America and I tell you what, what you need to know today –
Americans are tired of immigration. Americans are sick and tired of immigration. I know that we talk about this issue a lot. It comes back up. It’s it’s been around for years. We’ve continued to talk about this, but it’s huge. This is a big deal. What borders we have, the status of our borders. The people that we let in and to assimilate to this nation, these are all huge, consequential Things that we must discuss that we must have policy set forth on as a nation, this is a big deal. This is one of the biggest deals for us to cover as a populace, as a voting public. So it’s an issue that doesn’t go away and it’s one that drives an incredible amount of public opinion that drives the election year polling.
As we’re seeing and right now, it’s driving a bunch of polling away from Joe Biden, that’s for sure. A bunch of polling away from Joe Biden and the Democrat Party and the left, the radical left as they are pushing for more and more huge influx of Immigration, illegal and otherwise, a huge influx of disbanding the rules and just bringing in people, willy-nilly, handing them citizenship, handing them voting rights, handing them drivers licenses. It is an ongoing circus of errors and people are sick and tired of it.
There’s an interesting story coming out of a Colorado town that we should talk about. And that is from the town of Monument City, the Monument City Council this week voted 7 to 0 to not become a sanctuary city. That’s a little different. We keep hearing stories about places turning into sanctuary cities. They’re going to ignore immigration laws, kind of like the Biden administration is doing. They’re going to ignore deportations. They’re going to ignore the way that we ought to do things. And instead. Just come on in and welcome. Everyone in without any kind of system. In fact, let’s just go ahead and pay for it as well and just have everyone come on in and and it’ll be hunky Dory. We’ll sit around the campfire and sing Kumbaya with public tax dollars or something like that. I don’t know what they think they’re doing.
But there are cities that are responding to places like Denver. That are grappling with an incredible influx of immigrants and places around them are saying, Nope, we can’t do that. And and it’s not even a matter of of being pro or against immigrants. It’s not a matter of being for helping people or against helping people.
It’s a matter of what we can and cannot do.
It’s just black and white plain numbers on the page, black and white plain, What is best for the people who are here and frankly for the people who are coming in, we can’t do it.
So that was that was something that went down this week, Monument City, the City Council, the mayor actually said that the goal is to make sure Denver knows that we will not be accepting any busloads of migrants into our community. We do not have a budget that matches theirs, and we don’t utilize, we won’t utilize taxpayer funds for the support of what they’ve decided to take on themselves As a self declared sanctuary city.
Now, here’s here’s what brought this about. Denver, just down the road, 30, 40 miles, I believe, from Monument City. Denver, just down the road, has taken in about 40,000 illegal immigrants over the last year as a part of their sanctuary city status, 40,000. Now listen, Denver’s population is just over 700,000. That means about 5% of the city has been taken in over the last year as illegal. 5% that’s huge. 5% of the city has come in over the last year as a part of the Sanctuary city policy. And neighboring towns like Monument are forced to stand up and say this cannot come over here. This cannot spill over to our community. We will not take this on. We’re in fact going to stand up very publicly and unanimously, according to the City Council, and say no, and this, they’re not the only ones.
This has been going on in other places, too. This has just happened in Mesa County. Which passed a similar resolution this week, another Colorado municipality nearby. They are having to stand up and say no, we are done with this and and and these shenanigans that you, Denver, are pulling on to yourself are affecting the rest of us and we have to stand up and do something about it. And this isn’t just happening in Colorado, this is not an isolated incident. By any stretch of the imagination.
Let’s take a trip over to New York. You’ll see that Eric Adams, the. Mayor of New York City. He is dealing with record low approval numbers, record low approval numbers. It is tanking very fast, very hard on him. And that is directly related to the incredible influx of immigrants, illegal immigrants that have come into New York, that they’ve brought in, to incredible amount of money that they have put into housing people, at the disadvantage of their own citizens, or to the disadvantage of their own citizens, of New Yorkers. It’s absolutely incredible. And they’re having to go and and, you know, do all kinds of crazy things. Last November, they authorized citywide budget cuts. Public services were being eliminated. So that New York City could afford the waves of illegal immigration coming in because of their status as a sanctuary city. That is absolutely incredible.
And now Eric Adams’ numbers as the New York City mayor show less than three in 10, less than 30% approve of the job he is doing. This is a record low, not just for Eric Adams. This is a record low for any mayor ever in New York City, a record low.
So instead, we’re canceling these. Just this week, they announced. We’re cancelling these proposed budget cuts. Instead, we have to reduce the taxpayer funding that is going to newly arrived border crossers and illegal aliens. Specifically, they said that they were going to cut another 10% of city funded services for these illegal immigrants and border crossers. It it is backfiring. At a level of epic proportions against sanctuary cities against this radical leftist move to open our borders, to pull people in, it does not work. People are sick and tired of it. The American people are sick and tired of it.
Guess what? This is not loving. This is not caring. This is not kind. This is not helpful to anyone. Especially not to the citizens and residents of the United States of America, but not even to the people that we are allowing to be abused by this system and brought in. To the people who are being shoved through this funnel coming up through South and Central America, coming across the seas all the way to Mexico to get funneled in by the gangs and cartels and the human traffickers. We are feeding this system.
The sanctuary cities, I should say are feeding this system of travesty, this tragic human crisis happening at the border at at our southern border. It must be stopped and Americans are sick and tired of it. They are seeing and feeling the ramifications of it. Neighboring cities to these sanctuary cities are seeing and feeling and responding to the overwhelming burden that it is placing upon the budgets and the lives of our American citizens and residents. And it’s happening also in places like New York, where they’re backpedaling quickly, quickly, backpedaling. As the plans fall apart, this is not how a country functions. This is not how a nation continues. It is an existential threat and we must face it.
That is why this is one of the most consequential issues of the 2024 campaign, and I believe that the American public has the right mindset about this. The majority of them, they must make the right electoral decision this fall because this is an existential question that America must answer. How will we handle our borders? The way that it’s being done now is not, is not cutting it. How will we handle sanctuary cities and the status of illegal immigrants and crossers to America? The way that sanctuary cities are doing it now isn’t cutting it. Americans are sick and tired of it. They see what’s happened. They see what’s happening, and they want something different.
That’s why Eric Adams is tanking. That’s why Denver’s suburban neighbors are having to. Stand up and say no, not here. Not what you’ve done, Denver. And that’s where we are. Americans are sick and tired of it. They see it. And we’ve got to change. We’ve gotta change. That’s what you need to know. Americans are sick and tired of this illegal immigration status.
Alright, we gotta move on to the next segment. Stick around. Couple of great guests coming. You won’t want to miss it. Go to proamericareport.com, PhyllisSchlafly.com and we’ll see you right back here after the break on the Pro America Report.
