Washington, D.C.: “Just hours before the Biden Administration’s suspension of Title 42 health protections at our border, the Supreme Court has intervened and stopped the cancelation of these vital measures,” said Phyllis Schlafly Eagles President Ed Martin. “Nineteen states had asked the High Court for such an emergency stay, as it has been vital to holding at bay an even greater flood of illegal crossings.
“Since March of 2020, Title 42 has helped to limit who can apply for asylum. It has been a logical and functional rule that has allowed our border forces to restrict the flow of cartels and smugglers who try to rig the asylum system. Suspending Title 42 would certainly create an uncontrollable flood of illegal immigrants that would overpower and essentially shut down our ability to competently investigate credible asylum cases.
“While only temporary, this is a very important victory in trying to maintain order at our southern border. We cannot let chaos overrun our national sovereignty. We are grateful for this small win from the Supreme Court, and the sound jurisprudence that has won today.”
