Washington, D.C.: This week, Democrats and the mainstream media have finally, slowly, begun to admit a crisis at the southern border. Last night CNN’s Chris Cuomo finally began to use the language about a “border crisis” and earlier in the day Obama Homeland Security secretary Jeh Johnson’s admission on Fox Business that “By any measure 4,000 apprehensions on our southern border in one day, 100,000 in a month, is a crisis.”
“After weeks of mocking President Trump, the media and their Democratic allies are finally being forced at admit the truth about our southern border,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Last night on Prime Time, Chris Cuomo interviewed border patrol agents and immigrants and gave one of the greatest displays of evidence for the humanitarian crisis facing our southern border. Customs and Border Protection is swamped with tens of thousands of immigrants they have no space to hold and a legal system that does not deal with the problem.
“We must fix BOTH our porous border and the legal system that allows these illegal aliens to stay. The sham of asylum and other claims to stay in the U.S. isn’t a secret. CNN made sure of that, if nothing else, last night by airing an interview with an illegal immigrant father who said he was coming to the U.S. for work, but he is willing to claim asylum if that’s what allows him to remain here. The translator explained ‘if he comes here with his son, then he’s allowed to stay.’
“Our immigration system is broken. We cannot physically keep illegal crossers out, and we cannot seem to legally deal with them and send them back. President Trump must act now and close the border so we can start to handle this dangerous problem.”
