Washington, D.C.: Throughout the national response to this pandemic, the Swamp and their media mouthpieces have demanded broad, sweeping action from the federal government. They know this global crisis would be an excellent opportunity to grab more power for themselves. Despite this pressure, the Trump administration has largely refused to centralize power — instead, empowering the states to respond individually to this crisis.
“President Trump has grappled with the swamp on several fundamental constitutional issues, and yet again he’s pulling toward a conservative, originalist view of federal power,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “President Trump stays away from issuing sweeping lock down orders from the federal level, instead pushing decisions to the states to call for stay-at-home orders. This great Tenth Amendment principle has even trickled down to governors as many of them have been leaving the restriction decisions up to county and local leaders.”
We The People have to demand the right balance of power. We must be as concerned about protecting our republic from federal overreach as we are about fighting the virus. Despite extreme media hostility, President Trump has exhibited strong leadership during this crisis without allowing all power to flow to the Washington, D.C. Swamp.
