Proponents of COVID restrictions and vaccine mandates are messing up America in a lot of ways, but among the most egregious of their violations has to be the fact that they have opened up a whole new front in the war on Christmas. It used to be that the war on Christmas was about public nativity scenes and Christmas carols being sung by children in public schools. Now there is an entire wing of the political spectrum dedicated to ensuring that Americans do not get to celebrate Christmas with family and friends.
Dr. Anthony Fauci was making headlines all the way back in early October for his response to CBS’s Margaret Brennan when she asked him “can [we] gather for Christmas, or it’s just too soon to tell?” Fauci answered that it was too soon to tell. He then proceeded to imply that if enough people got the vaccine, maybe he would tell them that they could celebrate Christmas.
First of all, let me just point out how ridiculous the question was to begin with. Why in the world would this news anchor Margaret Brennan feel like she had to ask Dr. Fauci’s permission to see her family this Christmas? By asking such an asinine question, she is implying that Fauci has some kind of power over the American people, which he doesn’t. He is not an elected official, and even if he was, he still would not have the authority to make that kind of a decision. The very premise of the question was offensively ignorant.
Speaking of which, Fauci’s answer was just as inconsistent with reality. These leftists puppets are going to find out very quickly that the American people won’t be scared into submission as easily as retailers were scared into doing away with “Merry Christmas.” This is the fundamental difference between liberals and conservatives. Liberals want us to live life by mandate. Conservatives want to live life by personal liberty. No one will force you to leave your basement on December 25th if you don’t want to, but no government bureaucrat has the right to cancel Christmas, either. Christmas is a time to celebrate with family, and the COVID war on Christmas won’t change that.
