Washington, D.C.: Over the weekend Andy Schlafly on behalf of Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund, a non-profit branch of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles, filed an amicus curiae brief with the U.S. Supreme Court supporting the Trump Administration. The left has brought legal action against Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and some are seeking to depose him on his choice to add a question to the 2020 Census about U.S. Citizenship.
“Attempting to depose Secretary Ross is ridiculous and just plain obstructionist,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Fighting the addition of asking on the U.S. Census whether someone is a citizen or not is just the latest in the far-out antics of leftists. I believe most Americans would agree that this question is a no-brainer to include in the comprehensive tally of who lives inside the borders of the United States. The mission of the U.S. Census is to ascertain facts, not pursue a political agenda. Blocking the deposition of Wilbur Ross and the swamp’s attempt to bog down Census work is absolutely the right thing to do. We are proud to support the Trump Administration with this friendly brief.”
John and Andy Schlafly also penned a column on this topic, including the history of this issue and the Census, that was published today. Read their column Judicial Supremacy Runs Amok Against Census here.
