EO uses federal funding to promote higher standards, protections for communities, and protections for good cops.
Washington, D.C.: President Trump signed an Executive Order today encouraging police departments nationwide to adopt the highest professional standards to serve their communities.
“The President is absolutely correct — the vast majority of law enforcement officers are citizens who care more for the people of their communities than for their own lives,” said Ed Martin, President of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Those officers who would use their badge and power to promote prejudice are cowards who shame the valiant profession they have joined. The lawlessness of disbanding police is not the answer — raising standards and removing bad cops is.
“This executive order has great potential to lead our police forces nationwide to higher standards, better enforcement, and safer communities both for our citizens and for our officers. A core conservative principle is the limited use of government to punish the wicked and promote the righteous, and this order will work well toward both of those ends. President Trump is leading on this issue. We are grateful for his administration’s work to clean up police forces and honor the good cops who serve our communities.”
