After Forcing Return of Democrats to Texas, House Passes Voting Integrity Bill
Washington, D.C.: “After weeks of special session and Democrat drama, the Texas House finally passed vital election transparency measures,” Phyllis Schlafly Eagles president Ed Martin reported. “Now the Senate has just days to consider House amendments and pass this legislation.”
SB 1 requires a number of commonsense protections: video surveillance of vote-counting activities, protection of the rights of all poll watchers, tracking software over electronic vote-counting machines, valid driver’s license and Social Security information for vote-by-mail, and many more.
Martin concluded: “These reforms and similar measures in other states have only one goal — protecting the vote of every legal voter no matter their political persuasion, ideology, or party affiliation. Anyone who vilifies these proposals is either ignorant of the facts or purposefully seeking to shroud our elections in secrecy. Read the bills! We have no transparency, no Constitution, and no republic without these measures to defend our representative system!
“Bravo to Texas’s legislative leadership for reigning in the childish antics of Democrats and moving forward with the work of the people.”
