Washington, D.C.: “Good for Chairwoman McDaniel and good for every voting member of the RNC!” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “The Commission on Presidential Debates has made a mockery of themselves in the last two election cycles. Open and honest debate is foundational to our republican form of government! Why in the world would we allow such biased and obnoxious individuals to continue running the highest profile debates in America?
“I don’t always agree with RNC leadership, but this is a great move that is long overdue. Just like our fight across Big Tech platforms for free speech and transparent operation, it’s time to secure transparency in our electoral process.
“This fight for transparency must extend throughout every part of our elections. From the scheduling and running of debates to the casting and counting of ballots, Americans need confidence that the system is fair and their electoral voice has been heard! We cannot allow the consent of We the People to be eroded any further. It’s time for national organizations and elected state leaders to lead the fight to restore voter confidence.”
