House Democrats are hard at work trying to pass H.R. 1, otherwise referred to as “For the People Act.” Unlike what the Democrats would have you believe, this bill is anything but “for the people.” In fact, it would remove states’ rights in the voting process.
H.R. 1 would mandate that states allow felons to vote, individuals to vote without an ID, same-day voter registration, free mailing of absentee ballots, the adoption of new redistricting commissions, and lots of other dangerous mandates.
In a 2013 column Phyllis Schlafly stated, “If the poorest members of society can obtain photo ID to get taxpayer-funded handouts, they should be able to do likewise for voting. The real reason the left wants to make sure that individuals without voter ID are allowed to vote is because they are expected to vote for Democrats.” As Phyllis so eloquently stated, the left is continuing to work hard to ensure that they receive votes that will allow them to “rule” the country by whatever means is necessary.
Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund recently signed onto a coalition letter opposing House Democrats’ attempt to destroy America’s electoral system. We encourage you to contact your members of Congress to express your views on this bill that would hand over more control to the federal government. A vote is currently expected for tomorrow.
Heritage Foundation has released an easy-to-understand fact sheet to help you share with your members and fellow activists the dangers of H.R. 1.
