Biden Quietly Reverses Domestic Drilling Ban But Increases Costs
Washington, D.C.: “The abject indifference of the world’s elites on the soaring price of fuel for average people continues to shock us,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “They have no impulse to pursue economic sanity or bring relief to working people! Instead, they would sacrifice humanity itself on the altar of their own power, ego, and radical environmental agenda.
“United Nations Secretary General António Guterres said this week that we must endure these soaring prices for the sake of the planet! He wants us to believe that it would be a ‘climate disaster’ if nations focus on the immediate fossil fuel supply gap! He insists our goal must be to completely abandon fossil fuels, at whatever cost. The boldness and buffoonery of his statements boggles the mind.
“Here at home, the Biden Administration has continued to shun the expansion of domestic oil and gas while courting our enemies, even contemplating the lifting of sanctions against dictatorial Venezuela. The Executive Branch finally made a very quiet concession to move forward toward restarting drilling leases on federal land, but the Interior Department made it quite clear that costs would increase more than fivefold to make up for the environmental costs of such drilling.
“Congress needs to get their act together now and rein in their radical executive counterparts. The bureaucracy is on the attack against a core piece of our American economy and one of the most vital industries that supports the jobs and prosperity of all Americans. It’s time now to drill here at home and stop flirting with our ideological foes! The Biden Administration could bring relief to Americans this week, and they should. Bring back America’s roaring energy sector!”
