The following is a transcript from the Pro America Report.
Welcome. Welcome, welcome, everybody. I hope you had a great weekend. It’s Ed Martin here on the Pro America Report and we have some ground to cover. Two great interviews. Excuse me. Two topics I want to cover today.
I have one interview with Geri Perna, the aunt of Matt Perna, the late Matt Perna who committed suicide because of what was happening to him with the January 6th. He had been arrested regarding January 6th and it’s coming up on a year anniversary and Geri is a very articulate, very anguished voice of folks that were, that have family members or others impacted by January 6 so we’ll talk with her and then also I will cover some ground here on ah what happened over the weekend in football and one of the great plays, the great happenings of the weekend happened in the locker room, happened in front of the press after the game, the second game this weekend, the Chiefs versus the Bengals. I will fill you in on that inspiring play. Inspiring play. Very cool. What happened alright?
But let’s get to what you need. I got a little bit of frog in my throat. I think it’s allergies could be a cold, but it’s it is not COVID. I promise if you’re breathing heavily. Right near the speaker or have headphones in. You will not get COVID from me, it’s just allergies. It’s been going through our house, just allergies or bugs. There’s been stuff going through our house with three kids living with us, and so our three children, our oldest is away. Although she was just here till a few weeks ago. Seems like every bug comes through the house. We have it so there you have it. But here, let’s talk about what you need to know. Today’s WYNK as the week opens up.
Over the weekend, Donald Trump made his first two appearances on the campaign trail. At least sort of of the new campaign, one in New Hampshire, one in South Carolina, he rolled out some of his leadership. People, former chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and others. Governor McMasters, Henry McMasters, a well liked governor of South Carolina etcetera etcetera etcetera. I I’m more interested by the way in Trump’s videos that he’s been rolling out really good policy videos on everything from pro-life to fentanyl, bombing the cartels, Fighting censorship. He’s he’s doing a nice job, but here’s what you need to know.
The Republican Party, a lot of them, are desperate to say things like, oh, Trump can’t be the nominee, it’s gonna be someone else. And there’s a lengthy piece. Again, I go to Politico to figure out what the left is thinking. Then I follow this one Politico link to a piece in the Atlantic.
A liberal journalist named McKay Coppins wrote a lengthy piece there about how Republicans really want Trump to move on, and then McKay Coppins writes, but there’s no plan to get him to move on and you look around and read the whole article and say what are you talking about. It’s not that there’s not a plan. You you can’t make a plan if somebody else is gonna be stronger or run stronger or compete more. I mean, what? What’s the plan?
I think that DeSantis has a plan. He wants to run for president. Nikki Haley has a plan she wants to run for president. Pompeo has a plan he wants to run for president. Whatever – you pick a topic – the the Never Trumpers have a plan they wanna run ads against him or something and sometimes you wonder if the Never Trumpers would be happy to have Trump around because they raise money off of him. But when you hear, see, read this article and they say, oh Republicans really don’t want him, but they don’t have a plan. It’s nonsense.
The plan would be beat him. The plan would be beat him, go out and get candidates and beat him.
What they’re really saying is, Trump can’t be beat.
And if you look, watch Politico. They’re talking, oh, Trump’s got more legal troubles. And no, there’s no legal legal troubles at this point. If you get some fringe prosecutor to indict Trump, it’ll be perceived as what it is. A political hit job. He’s a candidate for president. And the hand wringing by the left about Trump and by the media and the establishment Republicans about Trump doesn’t change the fact that he’s running, and he’s running strong, and that if there are more than two people in the race, he wins because he’s already got probably has 50% plus, but he’s got a lot. If he doesn’t have 50%, he’s got 40% or some number like that, they’re gonna stay with him.
And remember, it’s not an election about who you think is the best person. You know, I, I like Trump, I I really think we could get someone better. That’s not the standard, it’s Trump versus Biden again.
And Biden is clearly now shown to be corrupt, incompetent, a nincompoop, but maybe incompetent, a nincompoop didn’t matter.
But corrupt does. There’s more and more evidence of his corruption, his son running these Chinese and and and Ukrainian business deals.
But here’s what you need to know. You have to run someone again against Trump. You have to have a plan to beat him, which is a candidate. And one of the things I said today that, I had a lunch with a friend of mine. I said, I think that Donald Trump is the only guy that can win the primary because of people know him and second he, the other guys that are running don’t realize how bad it will be to run.
You just saw a little touch of it. Politico started to run a piece. I think it was called Meet DeSantis’s Inner Circle. Right now Donald Trump’s inner circle outer circle, upper circle under circle. Everything circle has been scrutinized. I mean everything about him is already baked in except what’s not baked in or what is baked in. That’s not anything. You know. If you want to say the personal. But what what is also baked in?
Let me say it that way is his record. Conservative judges peace in the world. The booming economy. Taking on the swamp, that’s what he’s gonna do.
He’s gonna say these other guys and gals are gonna have to get into the ring and realize they’re going to face a level of scrutiny they’ve never seen and theirs is not baked in. You, there’s just no way that it’s been baked in, so you know a piece at Politico runs Meet Ron DeSantis’s political circle and you start to see they’re gonna talk about all these different guys around. And they’re going to start to go through those guys’ lives. They’re gonna start to go through and and describe who these people are and what they do and where they came from and how they played politics and what their deal is about where they made their money. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
It’s really clear that these guys I don’t think really understand what it means and and again by the way, I’m not saying that Trump is the best candidate. I happen to think he’s pretty darn good. I’m saying you don’t get to say a a candidate. There’s a better person and you’re not giving anybody else up. I know people think it’s DeSantis, but wait until the klieg lights shine. We’ll see. He might survive it. Scott Walker didn’t. Jeb Bush didn’t. And over the weekend, one of the things Donald Trump did was shine a light on DeSantis. If DeSantis wants to call himself as, I think he has, better on COVID than Trump. Trump’s not giving up that land that real estate he’s saying when DeSantis was a governor, he did the same thing that other governors did. Which was lock things down, not for long. Thankfully DeSantis was the first one out, but he did do it and what I think Trump is saying is there’s no way there is no way that you’re going to see Donald Trump sit around and let it be defined for him. It’s just not gonna happen like that. And so it’s it is going to be really, really interesting to watch.
But what you need to know right now is when you see the pieces written by the Atlantic and Politico, and they say there’s not a plan to stop Trump. What they mean is nobody can stop him. That’s what they’re describing. I’m not sure they’re right, by the way. I think there’s there’s plenty of things that could happen, but that’s what they’re saying.
We’re gonna take a break and when we come back we’ll get Geri Perna. And then we’ll cover this incredible play with the Cincinnati Bengals had and a lot more. Ed Martin here on the Pro America Report. We’ll be back.
