Washington, D.C.: After Michigan GOP Rep. Justin Amash’s pro-impeachment comments on Twitter, he is facing incredible backlash from conservatives, colleagues, donors, and even fellow libertarians.
“Justin Amash should be ashamed of himself for foisting this liberal deception on the American people,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Yesterday, I called for the RNC to censure Amashfor his irresponsible comments. Today he’s facing even more backlash. Michigan’s powerful DeVos family announced they will no longer support Amash. On top of all that, it seems he’s found himself in a serious conservative primary challenger, Michigan State Rep. Jim Lower.
“Amash’s own Freedom Caucus voted overwhelmingly to condemn his comments. Even Sen. Rand Paul, who is famous for his independent streak, was eager to rebuke Amash.
“Congressman Justin Amash is enabling a deliberate hoax on the American people. Democrats know they cannot compete with Trump on the issues. Their only recourse is obstruct with distractions and character assassinations. Amash should immediately be censured by the Republican Party.”
