The enemies of energy independence are crafty when it comes to achieving their agenda. Knowing that they don’t have sufficient votes to pass their agenda in the Senate, radical environmentalists have been inducing big banks not to loan money to companies engaged in traditional energy production. These radicals aren’t just Greenpeace hippies who live in tiny homes and hug trees. Many of them are major players in the Biden Administration. That is why the state treasurers of 15 states wrote a strong letter to Biden’s Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, warning him against pressuring banks to choke off coal, oil, and natural gas.
The letter said, “As the Obama Administration’s War on Coal demonstrated, reckless attacks on the fossil fuel industry ultimately cut off paychecks for workers and take food off the table of hard-working middle-class families – the very people the Biden Administration claims to champion.” However, that compelling letter is not the only red flag being waved on energy policy. The recent hacking of a major national oil pipeline that disrupted gasoline supplies to the northeast was a clarion call as well. Increasing public dependency on a centralized grid of electricity for cars would only worsen this vulnerability.
Despite all this, the socialist proponents of environmentalism march on. Like all attempts at socialism, the assault on coal, oil, and natural gas is built upon deception. Electric cars harm the environment more than gasoline-fueled vehicles do. Electric cars depend on specialized semiconductor chips that are five times as expensive than the comparatively eco-friendly chips in standard vehicles. Chip makers are asking governments to provide billions in subsidies to make these chips for electric vehicles.
Without access to affordable, decentralized energy, freedom and prosperity die. Socialism is quietly advancing by interfering with our traditional energy. As patriots fight against creeping socialism, do not forget to stand strong against liberal attempts to tear down oil and lift up government-controlled electricity in its place. The time of oil and natural gas may come to an end some day, but let it end at the hands of the free market, not socialist government interference.
