Washington, D.C.: “Literally hours before the political hit-job arraignment of Donald J. Trump, the staff of the New York County District Attorney’s office are trying to mop up the digital trail of their blatantly political motivations,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles.
Alvin Bragg’s Chief of Staff has deleted his Twitter (though screenshots of his public hatred for Trump still exist). The biography for Chief Assistant DA Meg Reiss, an outspoken Critical Race Theory and soft-on-crime advocate, has been removed. In fact, the entire “Meet Our Team” page is gone from the DA’s website.
“The premise of this supposed felony prosecution was flimsy to begin with,” Martin continued, “but the political motivation is just so obvious at this point. Not only will this political prosecution serve to embolden America First supporters and Trump’s candidacy, but it’s revealing to us the erosion of our justice system that must be stopped.
“We’ve long known of the raw lust for power of high-ranking elected officials and even the unelected appointees and bureaucrats. We are finally getting a full picture of the political power that has infested our justice system, and it must be removed quickly. This reminder is poignant today throughout many states as voters head to the polls to choose local office holders. Make no mistake the election of school boards, aldermen, mayors, and prosecutors is no less important than when we choose the president of the United States of America.
“Voters be educated! Watchdogs be vigilant! We must stop these corrupt individuals from entering office, and rout out the ones who have revealed themselves. No more prosecutorial abuse in America!”
