Desecrating Lady Justice’s Blindfold
Washington, D.C.: “Whether or not the rumors of Trump’s arrest are timed correctly or true at all, the fact remains that Manhattan’s DA is an embarrassment to our justice system,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Not only has District Attorney Alvin Bragg ripped off the blindfold of Lady Justice but he tore down her scales to reach it. He has tossed out the principle of looking at statutes, replacing it with the Stalin-era threat ‘show me the man and I’ll show you the crime.’
“Bragg has targeted Trump, and determined to flip through every statute to find what they can make stick. Prosecutors, particularly George Soros-funded ones like Bragg, are wielding the power of going after anyone they please. It’s no longer about applying the law, but about persecuting political enemies. The District Attorney is not the enforcement arm of a political party, and we should throw out of office anyone who tries to make it so.
“This business may yet be our most high-profile warning: time to kick dishonest, corrupt government prosecutors to the curb. They are a danger to the Constitution and our American way of life. We must recognize and stop prosecutorial abuse in all its forms from all its perpetrators.”
