Statist Politicians Continue To Scream “Pandemic For Thee But Not For Me”
Washington, D.C.: “Leftist elites continue to preach mandates and restrictions for the public while they excuse any behavior for themselves,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Last week, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez’s appearance at the Met Gala caused quite a stir. For starters, most Americans didn’t miss the irony of her ‘Tax the Rich’ gown message at, quite literally, the central event celebrating luxury and opulence. What was more disturbing, though, was the stark contrast of unmasked liberal celebrities behaving however they like (in NYC no less) while masked attendants stood drearily to the side, waiting on these elites like servants of self-appointed royalty.”
“The same disregard for equality treatment hit headlines last weekend via San Francisco Mayor London Breed,” Martin continued, “when she was videoed without a mask dancing with friends at a nightclub. In so doing, she was violating her own ‘public health order’ requiring masks indoors in the City of San Francisco. Her defense for breaking her own mandate? I’ll let her reasoning speak for itself.”
Breed said: “Like, we don’t need the fun police to come in and try and micromanage and tell us what we should or shouldn’t be doing. [I] got up and started dancing because I was feeling the spirit. And I wasn’t thinking about a mask. I was thinking about having a good time.”
Martin concluded, “Leftists make it abundantly clear time and again: COVID mandates and restrictions aren’t about science or research. These are measures of control exercised by a group of people who think they are above the rest of us. It’s time for every American to remove these people from power and send their Big Media lapdogs packing as well.”
