America’s Climate Czar, John Kerry, went to China to hold meetings with its top officials about climate change. Today that umbrella term can be used to mean everything from droughts to floods to inevitable heat waves. There was never any Senate confirmation for Kerry’s office, yet he reports directly to Biden without transparency for Kerry’s large staff. All we know is that Kerry’s job seems to be traveling around at home destroying our nation’s energy industry and abroad encouraging other nations to do the same.
Meanwhile, our competitors like China are using coal to its maximum benefit as the most cost-efficient energy. In 2021, China had its biggest increase in coal use and energy consumption since 2011, and Kerry is doing nothing meaningful about that. China approved more coal-fired power plants in 2022 than any year since 2015. Yet Kerry praised China for what Kerry called its “incredible job” of increasing renewable energy, which supplies only a tiny fraction of total energy consumption. Kerry merely chastised China gently about coal for which it “has six times as many plants starting construction as the rest of the world combined.” We won’t be able to compete with China if our economy shifts to inefficient wind turbines and solar power.
Surely Kerry knows this, yet the failed presidential candidate’s job is not to call out the failings of other nations with Greta Thunberg-like rage. Instead, Kerry lends legitimacy to these polluters while smiling for the cameras so Biden can look good back home. Then he hops on his jet and spews carbon across the sky as he soars to his next photo opportunity. The hypocrisy couldn’t be any more intense.
As any faithful Christian will quickly agree, we have a duty to conserve the beautiful creation God has made. Nations who do things like carelessly dumping trash in the ocean ought to be taken to task for their misdeeds. Yet, the radical climate agenda espoused by the left is a cruel distortion of a biblical principle, and climate czar John Kerry is bringing America to shame.
