Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund Files Brief Supporting Trump Immigration Agenda
Washington, D.C.: This afternoon, Phyllis Schlafly's Eagle Forum Education Fund filed a very thorough amicus brief before the U.S. Supreme Court in support of President Donald Trump's so-called travel ban. Our brief provides the legal weight to offset mountain of briefs expected from leftist organizations.
Liberals will flood the Supreme Court with briefs against President Trump. We are honored at the opportunity to work hard in his support, and wish more conservative groups would stand strong with him, particularly on the issue of immigration.
Our brief points out how liberal groups and law-makers have "cherry-picked" facts and asserted claims that they have no legal right to assert. We explain to the High Court in our brief that foreigners, particularly potential terrorists, have no right to sue to enter the United States and liberal American citizens have no legal standing to assert non-existent claims on their behalf.
You can view our full amicus brief here, as written by D.C.-based attorney Lawrence Joseph, who is an expert in the legal issues presented in this case.
Earlier in this same case we prevailed when the Supreme Court tossed out injunctions against President Trump. After we filed an amicus brief, the Supreme Court implicitly rejected the liberal arguments that Trump was somehow motivated by an "unconstitutional anti-Muslim bias." Such arguments are nonsense, as the Supreme Court unanimously agreed.
It is thanks to the support of our many members who make it possible for us to defend President Trump's agenda to secure our borders against our enemies.
