Now Is The Time to Stand Up for Moms and Babies Without Compromise!
Washington, D.C.: The Supreme Court has released an official opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson, striking down the blatantly unconstitutional and awful legacy of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. This move may have been expected, but its official release is still a huge victory worth celebrating!
“Even as we celebrate the reversal of Roe, the real work begins!” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “For decades we have been on the defensive, fighting back against an atrocious abuse of judicial power, but now is the time to boldly seize this momentum and protect vulnerable women and children! The policy decisions over abortion are now rightly returning to the lawmakers, and they’re going to need every bit of accountability from citizens!
“Our organization is uniquely qualified to make such a push, following in the footsteps of our founder,” Martin said. “Phyllis Schlafly was one of the earliest voices fighting against the egregious Roe v. Wade decision. Not only did she shift the cultural understanding of how harmful abortion is for women, she was the driving force that shifted the Republican Party pro-life.
“In the wake of Roe’s reversal, We the People must demand quick action in the states against the predatory abortion industry. There is much work for governors, attorneys general, and state legislatures to do! Legislation, special sessions, and investigations into the government’s preferential treatment of abortion providers must be pursued immediately. Likewise, candidates for office (both state and federal) ought to be prepared to answer tough questions from We the People on how they will use this newly returned power to stand up for the vulnerable.”
Phyllis Schlafly Eagles has already been hard at work before the release of this opinion, securing pledges from state lawmakers that they will move swiftly to ban abortion and protect mothers and babies in their states.
Martin concluded, “As this battle for life kicks off, let us remember that the foremost enemy of our movement isn’t leftists, but those on our side who would start at a position of compromise and exception on life. We must move forward swiftly, boldly, and without compromise if we are to protect women, our future generations, and ultimately save the American family.”
