Washington, D.C.: “Now that the Dobbs decision has overturned Roe v. Wade, the fight over abortion in America is just beginning,” said Ed Martin, President of the Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Without any more so-called ‘constitutional protection’ coming from activist judges in 1973, it’s now up to the people and their elected legislators to keep abortion or ban it. Next week, Kansas citizens have the first post-Dobbs crack at this great moral question.”
An August 2 referendum titled “Value Them Both” will allow Kansas voters to choose whether they want to keep or overturn a state constitutional amendment that prohibits restrictions on abortion. If the referendum passes, the state legislature will be able to pass legislation to restrict or ban abortion.
“The battle to protect young women and babies has just begun,” Martin continued. “It’s important for the Kansas citizens to make their votes and voices heard on this amendment. Abortion is a grave evil, and it’s imperative that Americans fight it at every level. Kansans have a wonderful opportunity to rid their state of this evil next Tuesday! I pray they take that step and return this issue to their legislature.”
