Washington, D.C.: The Illinois House and Senate passed pro-abortion legislation more extreme than anything the United States has yet seen — even in New York or Virginia. Illinois SB 25 would remove any penalty for late-term abortions, eliminate licensing and health safety inspections, and allow young minors to obtain an abortion without parental consent.
“SB 25 strips every single state regulation of abortion off the books,” said Phyllis Schlafly Eagles President Ed Martin. “Illinois is on the verge of allowing abortions at any time, for any reason, up until the moment of birth in facilities that have practically zero regulatory standards. This is a sad day for the health and safety of women everywhere.”
Phyllis Schlafly Eagles is proud to support the Heartbeat Bill, both in Congress and state legislatures. If a baby has a detectable heartbeat, their right to life should be protected. We are proud to work alongside the legendary pro-life activist Janet Porter on these efforts. Later this week Executive Director Rebekah Gantner will be joining the Ohio Heartbeat Bill Victory Party celebrating passage of this bill in its home state. We look forward to continuing this fight until the right to life is totally protected.
