In Wake of D.C. Near/Post-Birth Abortion Scandal, Becerra Skirts U.S. Law
Washington, D.C.: “Yet another government official soiled their position this week by refusing to answer basic moral and legal questions,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Scandal is still brewing around five babies at a Washington, D.C. surgery center who were murdered either by partial-birth abortion or after being born alive.
“In the wake of this, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra refused to answer questions about U.S. Code that are as plain as day. Multiple times this week before Congress, he was asked to recognize the defined illegal activity of 18 U.S. code, section 1531, which explicitly defines, prohibits, and punishes partial-birth abortions.
“In now-infamous Judge KBJ fashion, he plainly refused to answer the question while insisting he gave an answer. Such an outright political agenda is unacceptable in the enforcement branch of government. Xavier Becerra is a not a law maker! He does not get to pick and choose what U.S. code is and isn’t, and we ought not allow him to pick and choose what parts of the law his agency will and won’t abide by.
“Where is the public outcry? From Judge Jackson’s blatant political grandstanding to Becerra’s abject refusal to recognize the law, it’s time for Americans to get loud and demand accountability. Congress should demand Becerra be fired immediately.”
