Washington, D.C.: Standing up against immense pressure, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed the Heartbeat Bill into law this morning. Georgia is now the 4th state to pass and sign this incredible pro-life legislation this year.
“Radical pro-abortion advocates threw all they had into fighting the Georgia Heartbeat Bill, but they have come up short against rock solid pro-life leaders,” said Phyllis Schlafly Eagles President Ed Martin. “Hollywood liberals came in droves to pressure Governor Kemp not to sign, but he stuck to his principles and made good on his word to support this effort to save the lives of unborn children.
“He is a credit to the tireless work of Janet Porter of Faith2Action who has spearheaded this legislative idea from the beginning. Janet’s fearless defense of the unborn has become a model that’s meeting success in state legislatures across the country. We can’t imagine the pro-life movement without her. We hope and pray that her Heartbeat Bill will see success in the U.S. Congress under Rep. Steve King’s sponsorship. Phyllis Schlafly always said that King was her favorite Congressman. His consistent leadership on important conservative legislation like the federal Heartbeat Bill testifies to the wisdom of Phyllis’s trust in him.”
