St. Louis, MO: President Trump threatened today to let Democrats force another shut down this week if they refuse to come to an agreement on immigration reforms. In remarks to the press during a Whitehouse roundtable on MS-13 gang violence he said, "If we have to shut it down because the Democrats don't want safety,… then shut it down. We'll go with another shutdown." We urge the President to continue refusing to support an amnesty-only policy from the Democratic Party.
"We are glad to see that the President is holding the line on this important Americans-first issue," said Ed Martin, President of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. "He said today 'We'll do a shutdown and it's worth it for our country,' and he couldn't be more right. Americans are longing for policies that are good for the country and not for the Washington Swamp.
"It's time for someone to stand up to the powers-that-be and demand that Americans not be railroaded anymore by globalist policies. Temporary, partial disruptions in government bureacracies is well worth it for the sake of our national sovereignty and the American people. It's time the Democratic party put American workers and citizens first and agree to a budget that gets us back on track. Enough with political grandstanding and theater."
Continuing funding is set to expire Thursday night if Congress does not reach a funding deal.
