St. Louis, MO: The Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund is pleased to announce the winners of the premiere Phyllis Schlafly Essay Contest. The contest, held for students of Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL, gave students the chance to research the life of Phyllis Schlafly while answering the essay prompt “How will President Trump’s focus on American sovereignty influence American citizens?”
Sarah Williams was named the grand prize winner and will receive a $500 cash prize. Andrea Ritchie and Luke Ball were named the honorable mention winners and will each receive a $250 cash prize.
"One of our foremost goals is to teach the legacy of Phyllis Schlafly to the next generation of leaders," said the Fund's president Ed Martin. "Phyllis left us with archives that would take decades to fully digitize for the world to see and use. We are proud to share this legacy with students as they attempt to answer the complex questions that face our nation today."
“[Donald Trump] has proven himself a steadfast leader, passionately committed to the reclamation of American sovereignty. Now, Americans are beginning to reap the benefits of this rebirth of American sovereignty – renewed respect, safety, and prosperity.” –Sarah Williams
“It is important that, for a nation to be sovereign, it must have no higher authority than the Law. The Law was originally put in place by Creator God, and every government is commissioned by God to follow, implement, and enforce that law.” –Andrea Ritchie
“While Phyllis Schlafly never saw Donald Trump’s dream come to fruition, her emphatic endorsement of his candidacy allowed America to choose a leader who will fight for the preservation of national sovereignty. –Luke Ball
Martin continued: "Phyllis was always timely and timeless in her analysis of current events. Her wisdom benefits us still today, and we are thrilled to point students back to her work."‘‹
