Welcome, welcome. Welcome. Ed Martin here on the Pro America Report. Great to be together and we have another great show. In just a few moments we’ll get an update from the border from our friend, Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies, extraordinary guy, journalist, down there, covering the Border, what’s happening.
The next 10 days will be historic. American history will have never seen the dramatic influx or the opening of the border that will lead to an influx of people, just extraordinary. So looking forward to talking to him.
And amazingly, we will talk with Dr. Ben Carson, Ben and Candy Carson have a new book out and we’ll do an interview with Dr. Carson and hear what the book is and how they are contributing. The book is called Created Equal: The Painful Past, Confusing Present, and Hopeful Future of Race in America. So you’ll want to stick around for all that.
All right, first, what you need to know. What you need to know today is the feminists are about to make another monumental error. And the error has to do with marketing. Now. You say, well Ed, wasn’t the worst error they had when they wore those pink hats on Trump’s inauguration day? Well, maybe it might have been the worst looking PR or marketing error. But they’re about to make an error that has echoes in history.
35 years ago, and I want to point to the echoes, and show you how important this moment is. And I think there is momentum to be carried through when you see the opportunity. Okay.
So over the past few days, maybe the last week you probably have seen protesters and you thought to yourself the protesters in New York or in DC when the images of them come in close.
They’re not particularly pleasant.
They’re angry people. All their strident people. Let me be a little careful how I say it there. They don’t look happy and therefore, you know, happy people, joyful, people are attractive. Even if they’re not necessarily good looking, they’re attractive. You want to look at them. These are people who are because they’re angry because they’re unhappy. They’re very coarse. It’s not a good look and they have a lot of times, I went to lunch with a friend and he said, what are they doing having a four-year-old girl hold up a sign, my body, my choice. That’s what he said to me. I said I didn’t see that image, but the feminists are utilizing all the wrong imagery, all the wrong voices. If they want to persuade people to the importance of the policy position they have and they’re going to they’re going to do this going forward.
How do I know?
Well, they just announced that they’re going to have a conference in Houston in August, August 12th through 14th. There will be a women’s convention and it will be a place that you can see when you go there, you’ll see. It’s going to be a place to highlight all the feminist issues. Now the reason I said that this is echoes from the past is 35 years ago and I believe it was November. It certainly was in the last months of 1977, a government-funded international year of the woman conference was funded and National Women’s Conference. It was called observance of the international Women’s Year. That’s the exact term and it was funded in Houston, Texas. And it was meant to be the Great sort of Coronation of the, ERA, because you had Jimmy Carter and his wife, you had the Fords. Mrs. Ford also yeah, even Pat Nixon. Mrs. Nixon. You had so you had three of the most, two of the most recent first ladies and their husbands and also the current sitting First Lady and they all were going, it was going to be a coronation. Bella Abzug the congresswoman got, I think it was five million dollars, and they brought out, of tax dollars to have a conference in 1977. Four days.
Famously, my old boss, the late Phyllis Schlafly, put together a rival conference, which brought in tens of thousands of people and was a great success. And here’s what happened to the feminists.
The images were broadcast, all across the country of one set of people, women who were angry, strident, bitter, hateful, extreme, to the far left on every issue and then there was the images of these women at the Phyllis Schlafly rally, that the, the gathering, that were joyful and happy, and interesting, and different ages and sizes and colors.
And the contrast is widely attributed by historians to Phyllis Schlafly, building the momentum to beat the ERA which had been a fait accompli.
And so you watch this and I think I forget the, Marjorie Spruill. That’s it. the historian, I wrote that down who has written and she’s no friend of conservative. She said the contrast of the conference in Houston and Bella Abzug and the feminists and the far left and the nasty unpleasant stuff and Phyllis and her band of happy Warriors was the contrast that gave momentum to beating the ERA, which was historic.
So now we’re going to see the feminists gear up in August, and they’re going to have another rabid feminist gathering in, in of all places, Houston, Texas, 35 years later and they’re going to go down and they’re going to do what they did in the last 10 days. And the country is listening and feeling for solidarity of the problems they’re facing in their lives, which is how do they make the future brighter for their kids? How do they pay for milk and gas, which have gone up so fast. How did they handle inflation? What do they do when they can’t afford to buy a house or get a loan on their house because interest rates have gone up all these kinds of things, and they’re going to go down and have signs that talk about four year olds’ bodies and abortion at the end of pregnancy. And all these edgy, transgenderism. They glommed onto all this. And we’re watching the same mistake in a monumental way and Biden and his team are deciding to ride this sort of 5th wave feminism. This last wave, feminism. That is the cancel culture with the #MeToo movement, plus the broken policies of the America lasters, and it’s all come together.
And the American people do not recognize it. They do not recognize what is being presented as fundamentally kind of a part of our esprit de corps. A part of our national ethic. I’d be a little dangerous. I almost said they don’t recognize these people as American, but they certainly are American citizens. They just, they can see that these people are off balance and off base.
And what’s wild about this one is, 1977.
They had this big event in Houston in November of November of 77. There was no election right then. In this case the nation is going to see the Showcase of this of these feminists in Houston in August, 6 to 8 weeks before the election in the fall and I have been one of the people early on saying this feels like a wave election for Republicans. This could be a big way.
This could be a big wave.
It’s shaping up to be a big wave when the feminists and the Biden Administration and others don’t realize where the country is so significantly, they’re so off base, they’re so off kilter on where the American people are, that it’s just stunning, but they’re going to use big tech and big media to sort of hyper activate this nth wave feminism in a way that will be, it will not be good for the country. Won’t be good for girls, it won’t be good for anybody, but it will be horrendous politics, it’ll be horrendous politics and it’s happening.
So what you need to know is they’re clueless and they’re charging to kind of run off a cliff. And the only thing I’d say is watch closely if they change direction and sort of let it die out. It’s because they realized how bad this is. They realized how bad an optic, it is, how bad it is for the country, how it doesn’t fit where everyone is a, you know, the combination of #MeToo plus cancel culture, plus, you know, abortion on demand till the ninth month of pregnancy.
That’s not a winner. It’s not a winner. It’s a loser. And it’s getting stuck on and pinned to not just the media and big tech but to the Democrat Party. Clearly, it’s not even just to the left.
It’s to the Democrat Party. Well, that’s what you need to know.
We’ve got to take a break. When we come back we got a lot. We got a lot. We got Dr. Ben Carson and then we will talk with Todd Bensman about the border, be right back. Ed Martin here on the Pro America Report, back in a moment.
