Washington, D.C.: The Arizona School Boards Association is just the latest of several state entities to distance themselves or completely cut ties with the National School Boards Association (NSBA).
“The once-powerful and prominent NSBA is being pummeled by state associations,” said Phyllis Schlafly Eagles President Ed Martin. “State school board associations are bailing out! The national institutions of educational power are rapidly sinking, and state and local groups know it.
“School choice groups have tracked 20 states, now with Arizona’s letter, that have discontinued their membership, participation, and dues to the NSBA as a result of their actions. Still 9 more have have at least distanced themselves from the national group.
“The entangled relationship is now clear between the NSBA and Attorney General Merrick Garland’s direction for the FBI to investigate the ‘threat’ of concerned parents at school board meetings. Many Americans know that the centralized behemoths of education policy at the national level don’t have the ‘best interests’ of our children as a priority.
“It turns out labeling parents at the school board meetings as ‘domestic terrorists’ is a bridge too far. I hope and pray more parents get even bolder in defense of their children Likewise, we need more state organizations and governments standing up for their citizens and say no to the scourge of nationalized, special interest-driven education policy!”
