Washington, D.C.: “Amid the joyful shows and spectacles of the Christmas season, one awful and licentious show may still be in a city near you,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “The so-called Drag Queen Christmas Tour has been winding through the country and is stopping this week in my old home town of St. Louis. In fact, it’s out in the suburbs in Chesterfield, MO, no less.
“What is even more shocking, however, than simply the overt celebration of lewdness and perversion is that St. Louis and many other stops on this tour are labeled as ‘all-ages.’ Opening a show like this to minors is morally reprehensible. In fact, it literally is illegal in Chesterfield, where ‘The Factory’ venue is located. Chesterfield still bans public displays and performances of obscene material by city code, and I’d say the residents of the city ought to demand this event is canceled or at least changed to an 18+ show.
“I am deeply disturbed that this 36-show tour not only flies with the public but that it’s in its 8th year. Long gone are the days of ‘not discussing private decisions in the bedroom.’ The perversion of public morality is on full display and apparently is a profitable business model. It’s shameful and I hope the remaining few cities on this tour take a long hard look at letting this ‘show’ roll into town.”
