Imagine a scene at a local hospital where a young teen goes to the emergency room by herself. When the doctor sees her come into the examination room alone, he is not at all surprised. He asks why the girl is there, and she tells him of persistent pain in her side. After running the necessary tests, the doctor determines that she has appendicitis and will need to have surgery. He asks if she would like him to notify anyone, but the young girl says, “Whatever you do, don’t tell my parents. I don’t want them to find out.”
In this hypothetical situation, what should the doctor do? Medical ethics, the law, and every common standard of decency would dictate that the doctor should immediately inform the underage girl’s parents of the situation and get them to the hospital without delay. I have no doubt that at any medical facility in America, that is precisely what the doctor would do. However, if this girl were coming for an elective abortion rather than a necessary surgery, the doctor might not be legally required to obtain parental notification or consent before performing a risky life-changing operation on a minor.
With the abortion issue turned back to the states, leftists’ extreme views on the subject are clearer than ever. The Biden Administration is not just allowing, but actively directing underage girls to get secret abortions without parental consent or notification. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services created a website called ReproductiveRights.gov, which is dedicated to the grisly mission of encouraging American girls to kill their unborn children. The website directs to an external website which, among other things, shows underage girls exactly where they can go to get an abortion without their parents finding out.
Parents have a right and a duty to make health decisions for their minor children. Biden’s usurpation of this duty is an egregious violation of the American family. Don’t let your daughter be lured in by the predatory abortion industry. Never trust an adult who wants children to keep secrets from her parents, especially about abortion.
